Fallacious Morning, Glorious Evening
Wednesday morning class was deceptive. We were expecting WPC to teach, when we showed up it wasn’t WPC. This happened not just once but twice. WPC was replaced by TI last Wednesday. What saddened me the most is that they didn’t change the instructor’s name on the board. I would think twice before coming to the class if I’ve known that WPC is not teaching. *sigh* Then all of WPC’s regular were not there!! *Arghh* Half-way thru the class I saw R. She was late for the class- as usual. We both registered disappointment faces. Okay, so u may think what’s the big deal WPC not teaching the class. Well, let me tells u that this is a MORNING CLASS = to 7.00 AM in the morning!!!! ARGGGGHHH…. That is scarifying my beauty sleep!.
Then R told me that she is not that disappointed. I don’t blame R. The last time R was late, WPC almost shouted at her “Too late, too late”. And R ended up outside the studio!! Well, it’s understandable that R is still fuming.
Ahh, then it was my FAV RPM class! WPC teaching this evening. I saw R again. WPC is a Slave-Driver. I just love WPC’s RPM class. He loves to play tracks from the older releases. So somehow, I’ve forgotten about this morning incident. Then the best part of the whole class, WPC played Track 3 from RPM 2!!! Love it! Love it!! Its “Simply the Best”!! Short, sweet and lovely!!! It’s a fantastic song. Slow but a hard one! Its exhilarating.
What a Glorious evening it was……
Lost in BJ
This week we had the privilege of having the Instructor from Thailand – Thai Jam Instructor (TJI) for BC and BJ. I couldn’t make it to his BC class- it was rather early for me. So I was anticipating the BJ class. It kicks off with BJ 20!!! WOW!! Fabulous!! I can’t remember any of the BJ Instructor doing a release so far back. Right after that it was followed by BJ 21.
The class was FULL. Okay so Mr. Taller –than-thou was not there on that day. (Thank God). All the regular Jammers were there. I tried to get UV to come for TJI class but as usual UV declined. I was standing at the back of the class, couldn’t really see TJI’s moves. I was totally and absolutely LOST. What with the unfamiliar tracks, I felt like I’m having ‘two left’ leg all of a sudden. When TJI motion to the left you can see some members moving to the right – its not just one or two, it’s about quarter of the class. Yours truly included. So frustrating actually. I guess this happened because the track on that day was quite old and all of us are not familiar with the combo. It didn’t help that TJI is not a gifted person on the cueing department!!!! I have not felt so LOST in a BJ class. Of course looking at TJI doing the entire ‘stunt’ is awesome. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me.
I stayed on throughout the entire class not because I’m enjoying the class but merely to learn the combo of those beautiful older releases.
Fun and Funny
Saturday without Cikgu’s class is rather bored. Or so I thought. With a reluctant heart I went to Tornado Instructor’s class (TI)- Cikgu’s replacement. Its not that I don’t like TI, its just that sometimes TI love to give “complicated” combo. Boy, was I wrong? Last Saturday class was absolutely amazing. Gosh, I’ve forgotten how FUN TI class is!!!! Love the combo!! Its funny, every time TI does a replacement class, only ‘selected’ people will attend the class. Perhaps its the combo or maybe its just that TI does not have ‘fans’ for freestyle steps. TI only does freestyle steps on a replacement basis, no permanent class. Now I believe every instructor has their own style and TI style just remind me of a graceful dancer’s movement. It’s more prominent when we are doing mirror image with a partner. Thank God, this time I’m not pair up with FLCM!!!
Though I missed some of the steps but overall I managed to follow the steps. Had a fun time. The funniest (erm.. should I say weirdest?) thing is TI was wearing SUNGLASSES throughout the class. I’m guessing it could be the glaring morning sunlight. What else could it be?
Dog Attack!!!
This morning the road seems too quiet. I was late. Where are all the dogs? I guess they are at the next neighborhood. So I convinced myself. Then 3 minutes down the road, I saw 6 of them slept by the roadside. Okay, this is bad, I said to myself. Well, my mantra is “if I don’t hurt you, you won’t hurt me”. I kept on walking.
*Shock* My bus! There it is my bus stopped at the traffic light. My first reaction was to run to the bus. (I don’t want to miss this bus) So I take a step and start to run. Then I realize my stupid mistake. One of the dog wakes up and bark at me. *Wow**wow**wowww**Argghhhh* *Woww* When I started to run, I was too near them. *Wowwwaww* Soon 3 of them are awake and look at me as though I’m a theft! One of them actually got up and chases me!!!! Immediately I stopped running and turned my run into brisk walking. Couldn’t stop. My experience with dog is not a good one. The last dog that came too near me actually gave me a kiss that leaves scar! Its all coming back to me now. Stay cool. I said to myself.
While all this commotion is taking place, the bus actually waited for me. The bus driver saw me. He also saw those dogs. I thanked the bus driver for waiting.
I’m definitely not letting any dogs near me in the future.
Pump on Monday
So there I am with UV brazing through the late evening downpour to Cikgu’s class. Adoi!!!*curse**curse again*. The traffic was horrendous. We just don’t understand why it’s so detrimental every time we wanted to go to Cikgu’s class on Monday. I told UV that “maybe we are not fated to go to Cikgu’s class”!! Its true, the last time we went to Cikgu’s class on Monday, UV overshoot the exit (Okay, I know that was my fault too for talking with UV- distracting wor!) and we ended making a mammoth “U” turn back. Of which resulted in us being late for the class- as usual.
Yesterday was no difference, we reach there “ngam ngam” sharp before the class starts. It’s bad enough that we had to endure the traffic and rain, and then there is the parking we have to worry about. Luckily we found a parking lot way at the back! *curse again* We rushed to sign up for the class, apparently Cikgu’s class is damn packed on Monday. There were actually only 14 members registered for the class yesterday. *shock* Okay, so probably the rain has affected other people too. But I told UV that doesn’t include those KS people who do back to back classes. *ahem*
The warm-up track was one of our favorite tracks. Never heard the squat track before. Although it has a nice combo. The chest track had me cursing all the way!!!*My gawdd* Its so unforgivable to the chest and arms! We had a rather easy track for clean n press. Too much resting in between. Then it was my favorite triceps dips!!! *smiling* Gawd… I love triceps dips. Well, this is a so-called ‘warm up’ for the coming release. (Had a sneak preview of the triceps tracks the other day. Gotta luv it! A superb end to a fabulous song!) Though I suspect UV would like it!! *evil laugh*
Told UV that this will be the last time we are going to Cikgu’s class on Monday. Well actually, this sounds familiar. Didn’t we say the same thing the last time we were there?
Disappointment
What would you do if the class you thought the instructor teaching is not teaching but were replace by another instructor which you don’t fancy? So there i was, had myself landed in one of the pioneer (read : smaller) gym. The minute i landed my eyes on CLI (Child-Like Looking Instructor) i had a bad feeling. How come its CLI and not SPDC? Obviously not checking the schedule beforehand who is teaching is a BAD idea! Well, since i’m already here, i thought might as well make most of the time there. Apparently, according to the regulars, SPDC no longer teach there wor. I wanted to join BS after BC, so checked out the schedule and found out that OBI was teaching BS. Damn, what a day i choose to come here!!!! *Arghhhh* I’m felt trapped with nowhere to go cause these are one of the last classes and i’m not in the mood of running treadmill all by myself.
There were less than 10 members in CLI’s class. Jab-cross- jab ... blah blah blah, duh i’m bored!!!!!! The track selections were good. Unfortunately, i guess instructor does play a huge role in making the class comes alive. The lady in front of me has a not-so-good sense of what mirror image should be. She keeps on following CLI direction. CLI goes left she goes right, CLI goes right she goes left. Half of the time i was distracted by her movement.
And then it was OBI turn for BS. Now, there were a lots of newbie in the class. Well, OBI was good with the cueing and keep on encouraging the newbie. Of cause, newbie being new was still lost throughout the class. OBI actually surprised me with the good cueing and patient shown. From now on, i need to change my perception of OBI. Heck, but i’m not going to that place again if i have a choice.....
Freestyle Confusion
Last Saturday went to Cikgu’s freestyle class. Was late but luckily the class has not started yet. So, I have to stand at the back of the class. Duh, for once, i thought wanted to be a little kiasu so I can stand right in front. You see i have a reason for my kiasuness, Cikgu’s class has a lot of “yat poh shi” (tall lanky guy). Don’t really understand why suddenly Cikgu’s class is flooded by so many “yat poh shi”. Cikgu was doing double board sharing with a partner. I was paired up with Mr. Fierce Looking Chinese Man (FLCM). Mr. FLCM is a “kao shau” (The Superior One) in freestyle steps. He will start turning while i’m still figuring out how not to sprain my ankle. *Sigh* Already I was feeling the pressure of making a mistake. FOCUS!!! I need to FOCUS!!!.
Because of space constrained, me and Mr. FLCM need to move our boards to the next row. Actually Cikgu asked us to move. Cikgu has such long legs so he need more space to move around. On the 2nd combo, i landed on the left board instead of the right. Damn, Mr. FLCM stared at me, i broke a smile and said sorry. Looks like i have confused him. Luckily he smiled back. *ahem* Well, that’s the first time i see him smile. Anyway he is still a FLCM.
From then on, Mr. FLCM keeps doing those turning while i kept on focusing hard on what i was doing. Then FLCM made the wrong moved and landed on the right board instead of the left. *Urghhh* Talk bout the confused become more confused!! Then, Cikgu added some little funky shuffle move that had me feeling so many legs at one time. In the end i opted for the options!
All in all, i actually enjoyed the class. Neither the speed was too fast nor too slow. Ermm... i was thinking of getting UV to try out Cikgu’s freestyle class again. Got to welcome UV back to the world of fun-filled confusion that is freestyle steps! And UV, i’m not talking about the “Basic Steps” you are doing now.
Journey home was horrible. It took me almost 2 hours of driving to reach home!!! My gawdd... the rain was pouring. Every car on the road switch on their headlight and the visibility of the road in front was only less than 200 meter!! My car was crawling at 20 km per hour... Couldn’t see clearly and i was more afraid of the flood that was bound to happen...........
Getting Harrassed?
Have you ever felt harassed during BJ class? The other day, I have the not-so-privilege spot beside a man. Let’s name him Mr. Taller-than-thou. The class was crowded. People seem to chipped in after warm-up. Now I think this is a habit a lot of gym-goers practices. I admit sometimes I do it too. Back to Mr. Taller-than-thou.
Mr. Taller-than-thou comes into the class and squeeze in the spot right behind me. Mr. Taller-than-thou was only ½ a feet away from where I am standing. Notice how close we are? I’m standing somewhere 1 to 2 feet away from the person in front of me. I believe everyone is entitled to do their workout. So, I move 1 step in front. Creating a gap between us. Music starts and I was jamming away happily.
Piak!! The first super kick comes when we were doing the turning!! Oh my, I must have turned the wrong way. So I convince myself that I’m wrong, since I don’t do much BJ. Piak!! Piak!! Again on my leg… this is interesting, because I know I get the movement right this time. Its getting annoying!! Did I mention that Mr. Taller-than-thou is very tall – at least taller than me- and of medium size built? Naturally, if you are tall, you would have long legs and long arms. So couldn’t Mr. Taller-than-thou just be more a little tolerant and see where his hand and leg are going?
Piak!! Piak!! Gosh, this time is on my butt!!! Nah, this is not sexual harassment, it’s just his damn long arms swinging to my way. Darn, I gave him a killer stare! Even the guy beside me knows how to control his movement so as not to slap or kick me!! Once, he slapped on my hand and turned shyly to apologized, hence the controlled movement. He actually moves 1 step back! How nice! I smiled and said ‘its okay’. You see, I don’t mind the unavoidable minor slap or accidental kick. It’s normal and to be expected in a class full of people. I fully understand that. But the super-duper kick and slap I received is definitely not welcome.
I’m so not standing anywhere10 feet near Mr. Taller-than-thou in the next BJ class!!!!
Nightmare doing Yoga.
I’m allergic to flexibility. I don’t know why, can I blame it on my genes? Yeah, I know what a lame excuse. The other day, my friend persuaded me to go for Mr. X’s yoga class. So there I was, getting my mat and squeezing my way to the corner of the class. The class was rather full. You see, according to my friend Mr. X is very professional. I thought okay, why not, lets try it out!!!
5 minutes into the class, my arms was complaining on the stretches I made them do. You see they are not used to this type of yoga stretches. I told them to hold on. Its good for you. You shall reap the benefit you sow. My eyes was treacherous though, it keeps on looking at the clock hanging in the class. Tick.. tick… tick… How come after all those stretches only ½ an hour has passed by? Oh my, what have I gotten myself into?
Arghh… stretch! Stretch! Strecth! And more stretch, don’t give up!! My mantra to my arms and mind so that I would not give up. Mr. X, is good, showing the options for beginners. Luckily, there were a numbers of beginners in the class. And then it happened, Mr. X does the impossible yoga pose. Now, I’m not so into yoga yet, so can’t really name the yoga pose. I’m in awe. Did my mouth just opened ever so slightly? I said, okay, probably after x number of years doing it, I’ll be able to do that pose. Some members were really good. They manage to do the pose! How incredible!
Two days after attending the class, my arm still aches. Sorry dearest arms, you shall reap the benefit you sow. Would I give up yoga? Nah, my arms says when is the next class?
